May Sips @ Axemann Brewery

May-be you’ll join us for our next Sips?! State College Young Professionals is hosting our next monthly Sips Social Wednesday May 6 at Axemann Brewery in Bellefonte from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Sips is a chance for you to meet new people, catch up with friends, and learn about upcoming SCYP events. Group appetizers will be provided to be shared using your entry fees/membership dues. Bring your friends or co-workers with you! We hope to see you there!

Not a member? Just want to join us for a night? Stop on by! Non-members may attend Sips for $8. Participate in a Sips and you’ll get a chance to meet with current members and board members to see what SCYP can offer you. By the end of Sips if you would like to become a member, your entry fee will go towards your membership.

SCYP Volunteer: AAUW Annual Book Sale

Join us to help set up for one of State College’s biggest events of the year! The AAUW is seeking volunteers for their annual book sale. Come on out to help unload books and set up for the weekend sale.

The best part? Volunteers get first pick of the books donated (can purchase at end of shift), and AAUW will provide a free boxed dinner. If you have never experienced the book sale, now is your chance to give back and see what all the hype is about!

Proceeds from the AAUW Book Sale fund grants to support projects of Centre County non-profits that align with AAUW’s mission and scholarships awarded to women adult learner undergraduate students residing in Centre County. The sale also supports national AAUW initiatives, STEM programs in Centre County, and branch programs.

SCYP Volunteer: Spring Creek Park Cleanup Day

Enjoy a weekend day outside with a good deed by helping keep Spring Creek Park one of the best parks in the area at our spring clean-up! Volunteers will help by picking up litter, maintaining planting beds and walkways, trail cleanup, and many more activities supervised by the Centre Region Parks & Recreation (CRPR) staff. SCYP is an official Park Partner through CRPR.

Help your community out, spruce up the park, enjoy nature, and hang out with some other SCYP members! Non-members are encouraged to participate.

**We will meet in the MAIN parking lot area accessed from the entrance off Houserville Road.

**Be sure to bring water and work/gardening gloves. We have a few pairs of gloves we can lend to volunteers. Please wear a SCYP shirt if you have one to help represent SCYP as we work to make the park beautiful! If you don’t have a t-shirt, we’ll be giving out legacy SCYP T-shirts to volunteers (sizing is limited).

After the event, some of the group usually heads to a local spot for lunch!

“Decked Out Halls” Holiday Party

Join SCYP dressed in your festive best for a memorable night at the annual holiday party. In place of the monthly Sips socials, we will have our own rented space for this party and a full agenda meant to get everyone into the holiday spirit. Prizes will be awarded for games and a renewed membership raffle. Food will be catered and a cash bar will be available (including NA options).

2025 members can attend for free, other attendees will pay $15 or can attend at no extra cost when buying their membership for 2026.

Holiday Party Planning Meeting

The SCYP Holiday Party Planning Committee will hold its final meeting on Tuesday December 2nd, 7 pm at Boal City Brewing. In this meeting we will finalize details relating to decorations, activities, etc. for the “Decked Out Halls” Holiday party on December 12th in the Ramada Inn’s Nittany Room. Please attend if you are in a festive mood and are interested in making this party a success! No RSVP is needed, just find Michael with the blue SCYP sign when you arrive.

Holiday Dungeons & Dragons Drop-In Session at Axemann Brewery

Cost & What to Bring:

Bring money for drinks (if desired).
Character sheets will be provided for new players. If you would like to use an existing character, please have your character setup at a level 1 (for DnD 5e).

Event Description: Join us for a winter holiday themed Dungeons & Dragons (DnD) drop-in session at Axemann Brewery in Bellefonte. Two of your favorite fellow SCYP members, Chuck & Luke Marcinko, plus a special guest DM, will be heading separate tables as Dungeon Masters. Players will be guided through a standalone DnD campaign, lasting approximately three hours. New and experienced DnD players are all welcome.

Expect to laugh until your sides hurt when you join us at Happy Valley Improv’s show on Friday November 14th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. The company has generously offered tickets to SCYP members at a discounted price of $10 ($15 typically), so take this chance to come check them out with us if you have been looking for a reason to go! The show is at the Blue Brick Theatre, which has a BYOB policy. Plans can be made to stay out afterwards for food and drinks if attendees are interested.

Note: Ticket prices reflect the cash price, additional transaction fees occur when buying with a credit card online. SCYP will not provide food or drinks at this event.

November Sips at The Press

Check out the newest establishment in downtown State College with us on November 5th, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm! The Press: Cider & Craft Beverage Tap House (113 Heister Street, State College, PA) opened in early October and promises to be a place where “curiosity meets community” – building a suitable atmosphere for us young professionals. Good conversations will be had, satisfying beverages (including a few NA options) will be consumed, and snacks from a nearby restaurant will be enjoyed.

About Sips:
Sips is a chance for you to network with new folks, catch up with old friends, and learn about the many upcoming SCYP events. Bring your friends or co-workers with you, it’s a great time for all. Our Sips socials typically have 35-40 attendees.
Non-Members:
Not a member? Just want to test drive SCYP for a night? Stop on by! Non-members may attend Sips for $8. Participate in a Sips and you’ll get a chance to meet with current members, board members, and see what SCYP can offer you.
