We are seeking 8 eager (and hungry!) volunteers to help out at one of the State College area’s sweetest springtime events, the Maple Harvest Festival and Pancake Breakfast at Shaver’s Creek! Included in this event is an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast with real maple syrup and locally-sourced sausage (free for all volunteers)!ย

We will be carpooling from the Weis Supermarket parking lot on Westerly Parkway. The event duration listed (8:30am – 1:30pm) includes driving time to/from Shaver’s Creek. The actual volunteer shift is from 9:00am – 1:00pm.

The Maple Harvest Festival has been celebrated at Shaver’s Creek since 1984 to teach people about the maple sugaring process from sap to syrup. At learning stations, visitors will learn the process and history of making maple syrup. Other festival events include live animal programs to learn about the resident birds, reptiles, and amphibians housed at Shaver’s Creek as well as live music. More than 1,000 community members attendย the festival each year, and volunteers are key to its smooth operation.

Location: Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center, 3400 Discovery Dr., Petersburg, PA 16669

Date/Time: Sunday, March 22, 8:30am – 1:30pm
